Greene student artwork to be unveiled at Morse Library June 11

GREENE — Under the guidance of School Administrative District 52 teacher Kara Getty a small group of sixth-grade students at Greene Central School have been working through the spring to create art that will go on long-term display at Morse Memorial Library.
The works will be unveiled at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, when the public is invited to stop in to meet the artists. Light refreshments will be served.
“It’s been wonderful to see the growth of my students as they’ve worked on this project over the past several months,” said Getty. “They’ve been diligent, revising their work as their ideas have evolved.”
“The library board came up with the idea to invite students to create art to decorate our children’s area,” said Librarian Steve Bouchard. “Installing their works will be the culmination of changes we’ve made to that section this winter, including making the space slightly larger to accommodate more books and an expanded collection of developmental toys for preschoolers.”
Morse Memorial Library is at 105 Main St., just off U.S. Route 202 and a quarter mile down from Greene Central School. Open hours are noon to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday. For more information, call 207-946-5544 or see www.morse.lib.me.us.
