Morse Library has state park passes, new TV shows

GREENE — Again this year, Morse Library iwill offer its patrons free use of a Maine State Parks Pass. The pass admits all occupants of one vehicle, free of charge, to most of the Maine state parks and historic sites.
It is available for use by patrons in good standing who have had a Morse Library card for at least 30 days. The pass may be reserved in advance. A $5 cash deposit, payable at pick-up, ensures its availability for the next person.
The library has also bought most of the books from the 2019-20 Maine Student Book Award List. Each year, a committee selects 40 outstanding new books for kids in grades 4 through 8. During the summer and through the school year, students across the state read books of their choosing from the list and then vote for their favorites through their schools; homeschoolers may vote through their local public libraries. The vote is tabulated and the winners are announced in April. The library invites local students to get a head start reading the MSBA books this summer while participating in its annual Summer Reading Program.
The library also continues to grow its collection of TV shows on DVD. New for this summer are: “Outlander,” Season 3; “Game of Thrones,” Season 7; “The Handmaid’s Tale,” Season 1; “Orange Is the New Black,” Seasons 2-4; “Homeland,” Seasons 3-4; “The Americans,” Seasons 4-5; “The Wire,” Seasons 2-5 (series end); “Orphan Black” (BBC), Seasons 1-5 (series end); “New Upstairs Downstairs” (BBC), Seasons 1-2; “Luther” (BBC), Seasons 1-2; “Arrow,” Seasons 1-2; “Fringe,” Seasons 1-2; “Poldark,” Season 1; “Breaking Bad,” Season 6 (series end); “Walking Dead,” Season 4; “Vikings,” Season 3; “Sherlock” (BBC), Season 4; “The Crimson Field” (BBC); “Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norell” (BBC); “Jekyll” (BBC); and “Better Call Saul,” Season 1.
Library cards are available free of charge to all residents. Morse Memorial Library is at 105 Main St., just off U.S. Route 202 and a quarter mile from Greene Central School.
