Leavitt High School musicians perform in spring concert

The Leavitt Area High School Concert Band performs at the school’s May 14 Spring Concert. The band played three selections “Peacemaker,” by Karl King; “Celtic Voyage,” by Melanie Donahue; and “Counterbalance,” by Todd Stalter. A rare instrument, an ocean drum, added the sounds of the surf to “Celtic Voyage” selection. Also performing were Hornets in Harmony, under the direction of Ashley Hodgkin, with selections “Sixteen Tons,” “MLK,” the band U2’s tribute to Martin Luther King and “The Longest Time,” by Billy Joel. The chorus also performed three songs, “Windy Nights,” a musical setting of the Robert Louis Stevenson poem; “Dreams of Thee,” and the Gospel song, “Shine on Me.” The choir is directed by Sarah Dow Shedlarski.
