AUBURN — The Androscogin Historical Society will present a program on historical “kitchen gardens” from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 18.
Participants will work under the tutelage of a master gardener to reproduce a typical medicinal and culinary herb garden at the Society’s Knight House.
Participants will learn of the design and conditions for growing an herb garden. They also will receive a list of medicinal plants used in the 1800’s, with a history of their origins. Come prepared to garden, so gloves and trowels would be helpful.
The site of the workshop is the Knight House, located in the Great Falls Plaza, next to the falls in the Androscoggin River. Rain date will be May 25.
