Sandy River Ramblers celebrate new CD with free May 11 concert

MOUNT VERNON — The Sandy River Ramblers latest CD, “Home in the Heart of Maine,” is due to be released on Saturday, May 11, and the Ramblers are hosting a concert in Mount Vernon to celebrate the event.

The Ramblers are hosting a free concert at 6:30 p.m. at the Mount Vernon Community Center.
The band is known for their large repertoire of original songs about Maine; their 2012 release, “Cry of the Loon” and other original songs about Maine, has been called “a gift to Mainers” by Bangor Daily News and Kennebec Journal writer George Smith.
Most of the songs on the new CD come from the pen of bandleader/guitarist Stan Keach, who won the Maine Songwriters’ Association 2017 Song of the Year contest. Keach will be inducted into the Maine Country Music Hall of Fame. on May 19. Banjoist Bud Godsoe, of Madrid, also wrote a couple of the new songs.
The Ramblers are known for vocal harmonies, the lead singing of Julie Davenport and Dana Reynolds, and the instrumental skills of mandolinist Dan Simons, Godsoe, and fiddler Finn Woodruff.
Donations will be accepted at the concert and refreshments will be available.
