Pine Cone Reelers square dance club welcomes new members

AUGUSTA — The Pine Cone Reelers Square Dance Club of Augusta is finishing up another fun and successful season of square dancing workshops and lessons. The club will hold its last workshop/lesson Thursday, May 6, following a club pot luck meal.

The club has five new students who have been coming once a week for lessons on Thursday nights from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Lincoln School, 30 Lincoln St. The club has already made arrangements for next fall’s lesson/workshop schedule.
A beginner’s class will begin Thursday, Sept. 12, at Lincoln School. The group will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Members are from all over the area.
Some club members attended the 61st New England Square and Round Dance Convention the weekend of April 26 to 28 at the Stoweflake Mountain Resort & Spa in Stowe, Vt. The event attracts approximately 1,000 dancers from the six New England states, surrounding states and Canada.
On June 26 thru 29, some members will also attend the 68th National Square Dance Convention will be held at the Cobb Galleria Convention Center and Renaissance Waverly Hotel in Atlanta, Ga. The convention brings about 10,000 dancers from all across the country and various other countries including Canada, Mexico, Austria, Australia, China, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands and the Phillipines.
There are other camping/dancing weekends scheduled throughout the summer months.
