TURNER — The fifth graders at Turner Elementary School showcased their hand made projects at the 5th Grade Mall on April 4.
There was an abundance of students, teachers and parents who supported this creative event designed to teach students the value of a dollar.
“Over several weeks, fifth grade students at Turner Elementary School have prepared for the 5th Grade Mall — an exciting, hands-on, entrepreneurial fair that complements many aspects of our fifth-grade curriculum,” explained fifth-grade teacher Mavis Fitch. “Students start their own businesses (one or two students per business), develop practical life skills, and gain real-life experiences.”
Their 5th Grade Mall was held April 4. Students sold their products to more than 350 students from other grades, as well as parents who were able to attend as shoppers.
“This is a fantastic community gathering where everyone who attends receives fake money to spend at the Mall.
The slogan for the day was “Spend it all at the Mall.” It was the fourth consecutive year for this event,” Fitch continued, “and one that all who attended will be remember for its creativity and professionalism.”
