Hall of Flags inclusion ceremony is April 25

AUGUSTA – The Maine Developmental Disabilities Council will host its fourth annual Inclusion Celebration in the Hall of Flags at the State House from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, April 25.

The event will celebrate the efforts of high school juniors and seniors who have created essays and artworks reflecting on the meaning of full inclusion of individuals with developmental disabilities in our communities.
This year the council will also be honoring Rep. Richard Farnsworth of Portland for his continued advocacy for those with disabilities and for their full inclusion in our Maine communities. Across both his professional and legislative careers, Farnsworth has been a strong voice for people with developmental disabilities and their rights to fully realized educations, work and lives.
Two educators, Linda Garcia of Hodgdon High School and Kimberly Medsker-Mehalic of Freeport High School also will be recognized for their encouragement and support, as well as Vinalhaven School and Freeport High School for their extraordinary student participation.
The students being honored are Seth Tapley, Hodgdon High School; Reagan Davis, Freeport High School; Ben Burgess, Vinalhaven School; Galina Fallon, Freeport High School; Sam Peterson, John Bapst Memorial High School, Bangor; Nicholas Alexander, Mid-Maine Technical Center, Waterville; Maddie Beckwith, Winslow High School; and Kylieanna Rantz, Narraguagus High School, Harrington.
