NORWAY — The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine, located in the Stephens Memorial Hospital Specialty Clinic building at 199 Main St., recently announced the center is now open Tuesdays from 3 to p.m. in addition to its regular Thursday and Friday hours — 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Volunteers are available to provide comfort items such as port protectors, wigs, hats, pillows or look for additional resources. The center also has a lending library of books about a variety of cancer-related topics. Enjoy a cup of coffee or tea, chat with a volunteer or take time for yourself by participating in a cancer support group or other scheduled activity. For more information, call 207-890-0329.
CRCofWM sponsors a variety of weekly, off-site wellness activities for cancer survivors and their caregivers:
Yoga Warriors on Wednesdays, 3 to 4 p.m, Posabilities, 15 Tannery St., Norway; * Banding Together To Restore exercise class, Thursdays, 9 to 11 a.m. at Richard Bader Physical Therapy, 176 Main St.
Survivorship Programs also are offered for those impacted by cancer and their caregivers:
Swimming passes are available through the CRCWM partnership with the Hampton Inn, 151 Main St., Oxford. This pass is for one month of unlimited swimming in a salt water pool for cancer survivors who have been out of treatment for 6 months and up to five years. Their caregiver is also eligible to receive a month of swimming as well.
The Caring Coupon Program is for cancer patients currently in treatment and up to six months after finishing treatment. Survivors may receive four coupons, their caregiver may receive two coupons, which they use for their choice of sessions of Reiki, massage, reflexology or therapeutic yoga from a list of approved Wellness providers. * Cancer survivors and caregivers interested in receiving a pass for swimming or participating in the Caring Coupon program should stop in at the Center, located at 199 Main St., Norway, call 207-890-0329, or visit www.crcofwm.org for more information.
