Casco Village Church Holy Week services, more begin April 14

CASCO — Holy Week at the Casco Village Church United Church of Christ begins on Sunday, April 14, and will continute through Easter Sunday.

On Palm/Passion Sunday, April 14, worship starts at 10:00 a.m. with Sunday School until 11:15 a.m. and choir singing under the direction of Eugene Long with accompanist Lynn Foss. At 4 p.m., the movie “Jesus Christ Superstar” will be shown in the Great Hall, with popcorn and drinks provided – bring something comfy to sit in and bring your own candy.
On Thursday, April 18, there will be a dramatic Maundy Thursday Service complete with choir.
On Friday, April 19, the Good Friday Hunger Walk begins at 5:30 a.m. for those wishing to walk 16 miles, or meet at the Raymond Village Community Church UCC at 8 a.m. to walk back to Casco Village (eight miles). The Community Center gym will also be available for those who would like to walk on a level surface inside.
A Holy Saturday Vigil will commence at noon on Friday, April 19, and continue until Saturday, April 20 at noon. On Sunday, April 21, the morning begins with an early daybreak service in back of the church at 6:30 a.m., followed by a 7 a.m. Easter breakfast hosted by the men of the CVCUCC.
The worship service at 10:00 a.m. is intergenerational and celebrational and includes the choir, with Long directing and Foss accompanying, as well as many guest instrumentalists.
The services and activities are free and open to the public.
