NEW GLOUCESTER — The Royal River Rod and Gun Club will host an instructional shooting clinic — Women on Target — on Saturday, April 20, and a Youth Field Day Youth Field Day, Saturday, May 18.
Women on Target will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the club 41 Fish Hatchery Road.
Sign-in begins at 8:30 a.m. There will be classroom instruction with National Rifle Association certified instructors. Topics include laser sighting, firearm safety, range instruction and hands-on shooting with .22 caliber rifles and hand guns.
Lunch will be provided. During the afternoon session, there will be round-robin shooting with various caliber rifles and handguns. No experience or guns are necessary to participate; all equipment will be provided.

The club also will host Youth Field Day, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18.
Mandatory check-in will run from 8:30 to 9 a.m. This is a free event for boys and girls ages 10 to 15. Activities include basic map and compass instruction, archery and .22 caliber rifle shooting.
Lunch is provided at no cost to participants. Also on the docket are discussions about outdoor survival and fishing.
Space is limited to 48 participants, and pre-registration is required.
