BELGRADE — Recruitment of volunteers is underway for individuals, informal groups, organizations and businesses talk take part in a Belgrade adopt-a-road litter pickup program.
This is a pilot project focused on all roads that fall within the town’s jurisdiction. State routes and privately owned roads are not included.
Volunteers will be responsible for picking up litter on both sides of one or more roads of their choosing for up to one mile. Dates for litter pickup will also be of volunteers’ choosing but preferably will take place twice between May 1 and Sept. 30.
All volunteers are required to register with the town for the program no less than two weeks before the date they plan to pick up litter so that town-supplied safety rules, equipment, supplies and road signs can be issued beforehand.
Individuals and groups who are interested in volunteering can find more information on the town’s website — www.townofbelgrade.com.
printable map with companion list describing town roads is also available on the website.
