Johnson, Erskine students in concert at UUCC church in Augusta March 16

AUGUSTA — The Unitarian Universalist Community Church of Augusta, 69 Winthrop St., will host a one-hour concert, “James Johnson and Friends,” at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 16.
Johnson will perform with students from Erskine Academy in South China, where he directs the music department.

A musician who has explored a variety of music styles, Johnson earned a master’s of fine arts from the California Institute of the Arts, where he studied chamber, jazz and world music. He is known for improvisation and contemporary music styles.
Since moving to Hallowell, Johnson enjoys bicycle racing, dog agility, cooking and spending time with his wife Bridget and son Miles.
The UUCC suggests a $10 per person donation, which the church shares with the musicians. Volunteers will serve refreshments after the concert.
