RAYMOND — Six girls from Lewiston will made history on Feb. 1, when they were among the first group of girls nationwide to join Scouts BSA and start their journey towards earning the rank of Eagle Scout.
They were the first troop to hand deliver a completed charter to the Pine Tree Council, BSA office. All newly-chartered Scouts BSA troops were officially registered Feb. 1.
Newly formed Troop 2019 will meet at Calvary United Methodist Church in Lewiston and will serve girls ages 10 years and older. According to Scoutmaster Casey Arsenault, the troop is already working on a series of indoor and outdoor events that will include traditional Scouting activities like a Zlondike Derby, Court of Honor, Pinewood Derby and service projects like Scouting for Food.
“Scouting is all about connecting our boys and girls to the community, getting them outside, having fun with their friends, and living our oath and law,” she says. Her daughter, Hannah, officially handed the completed charter to Scout District Executive Jack Waite and said, “I am excited about being in Scouting and look forward to doing things I love, like camping and archery.”
