OQUOSSOC — The Rangeley Lakes Snowmobile Club will host its annual Snodeo Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Jan. 24 through 26, beginning with The Chili Chowder Cook-off, sponsored by the Rangeley Lakes Chamber of Commerce, 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at the the Gingerbread House, followed by casino night at 6:30 p.m at Bald Mountain Camps in Oquossoc.
The event continues at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at Steven Bean Municipal Airport with pre-registration for the return of Rock Maple Racing Cross-Country Race and the Tame the Track Tour snowmobile races. Registration forms are available online at rockmapleracing.com and tamethetracktour.com.
The annual live auction, featuring Larry Koob at Snodeo headquarters — Moose Alley bowling alley, 2809 Main St., Rangeley — will be held Friday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. All proceeds from the auction go directly to the grooming operations for the RLSC.
Saturday is filled with events for all ages. Race registration continues at the airport Saturday at 6:30 a.m.; gates will open at 8 a.m. The Rock Maple Cross Country Race will be a five-mile event, and the Tame the Track Tour Snowmobile Race (Vintage & 120cc) will be one-third mile track. Ticket prices are $10/per person. Children under 12 are free, and parking is free. All proceeds from this event go directly to the club grooming funds.
