Center for Workforce Developer offers Micrososft, computer security courses

AUBURN — The Center for Workforce & Professional Development at Central Maine Community College at Central Maine Community College is offering a course on Microsoft Windows 10 Fundamentals that prepares students for the MTA certification exam as well as a CompTIA Security for IT managers.

The Microsoft course course will run from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday evenings from Monday, Jan. 14, to Wednesday, Feb. 13. Deadline to register is Monday, Jan. 7.
With the upcoming end-of-life of Windows 7, now is a good time to gain technical knowledge needed to support Windows 10 — from rollout through maintenance stages – to prepare for the large numbers of Windows 7-8 computers still to be updated or replaced. This class is designed for students wanting a “look under the hood” into many aspects of Windows 10, including configuring, installation and upgrading, managing applications, files, folders, and devices, operating system maintenance and features of windows.
The cost to attend is $1,000 and includes all instructional material.
The CompTIA Security+ course will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.Monday through Friday, Jan. 7 to 11. Computer security has been a prime focus of IT managers for the past several years. Becoming Security + certified demonstrates that one has the knowledge needed to help organizations large and small achieve their security objectives
The deadline to register is Wednesday, Jan. 2.
The cost for this course is $1,900 and includes all instructional materials. Also included is an exam voucher, six-month access to a practice exam and TestOut Network Pro access for 18 months. The total instructional materials package has a retail value of $695. CMCC has a testing center on campus.
