NORWAY — Stephens Memorial Hospital will offer the National Diabetes Prevention Program series beginning Wednesday, Jan. 9.
The program is a partnership of the Centers for Disease Control and other public and private organizations working to prevent or delay type 2 diabetes.
The partners work to make it easier for people with prediabetes to participate in evidence-based, affordable, and high-quality lifestyle change programs to reduce their risk of type 2 diabetes and improve their overall health.
The research-proven program features interactive sessions and focuses on developing healthy habits: food choices, physical activity, managing stress, staying motivated, and problem solving. “Small changes can add up to big differences” said Betty Sirois, CDE diabetes nurse educator at Stephens Memorial Hospital.
Participants in the program will work with a trained lifestyle coach to develop lasting changes together.
The prgram will meet 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesdays at the William L. Medd, MD Health Center, 8 Pikes Hill.
