NORWAY — The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine has released its January calendar, including special activities that include wire wrapping and a beginner ukulele class.
Chris Doyle will teach wire wrapping from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22. Materials are provided for this craft activity, and participants may take their creation home with them.
Nancy Hohmann will teach beginning ukulele 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29. She will teach the basic skills and there will be some ukuleles to practice on, or participants may bring their own.
The Women’s Cancer Support Group will not meet in January, but will resume from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5.
Winter drop-in hours at the center 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fridays. Volunteers are available to provide comfort items such as port protectors, wigs, hats, pillows or look for resources. There are many pamphlets and a lending library. The center is also a place to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea, chat with a volunteer or take time for yourself by participating in scheduled programs. Activities such as coloring, knitting and games are available at all times.
Monthy program range from excersize, wellness and crafts, to support and information.
The center is in the Stephens Memorial Hospital Specialty Clinic building, 199 Main St. In case of inclement weather, when School Admiistrative District 17 cancels school, the center will also be closed.
