Papa’s Boots has biggest order to ever to keep children’s feet warm

HARRISON — Papa’ Boots, a mission from the Bolsters Mills United Methodist Church that collects warm winter books for those in the area in need, has reported its biggest order of boots ever.
“The need continues to grow,” the organization said in a news release.

The program provides books for children at local elementary schools, preschool children, John F. Murphy Homes Margaret Murphy Center for Children, Safe Voices and other agencies servicing children. All requests come through local agencies and are anonymous, and the organization said that so far it hasn’t had to turn away any this year. Lamey-Wellehan shoe stores partners with the organization.
The committee’s fundraisers include spring and fall auctions, a gate collection at Bath Iron Works in September and the Christmas in Harrison Craft Fair, which is Dec. 1 this year.
“The committee wants to thank the many generous people who have supported this cause over the past eight years,” the organization said.
