Phillips artist’s works on display at Carrabassett Valley library

CARRABASSETT VALLEY — The Carrabassett Valley Public Library & Community Center recently announced the art exhibit for November and December. It includes vibrant paintings by Susy Sanders, creator of Emerging Image Art and owner of Morning Bridge Center in Phillips.

Sanders considers herself not so much an artist as a “discoverer.”
“I have had some formal art training, this is true, yet it isn’t this that I draw upon when I paint,” she explained. “Rather, I take quite a naive stance, believing that the image will emerge as long as I seek it. I do not know what I am going to paint before I begin; I make a smeary-smudgy background, like the clouds, and stare at it until I see the images emerge. Then I begin to paint.”
Sanders says these paintings reflect her “deeply felt journey towards wholeness.”
