NORWAY — The town Christmas tree lighting begins at 5:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, when the Fire Department Light Parade leads Santa and Mrs. Claus down Beal Street.
The parade takes a right onto Main Street, then take a left onto Pikes Hill and a right onto Water Street and meet the crowd at Butters Memorial Park by the flag pole and Norway’s Christmas trees.
Santa will then need help to light the Christmas trees at 6 p.m.
After the tree lighting, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be escorted back to the Norway Fire Station. Photos may be taken of kids visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided by the Norway Firemen’s Relief Association.
Also on Dec. 7, Norway Memorial Library will celebrate its 80th year at 258 Main St. with a holiday open house from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School String Quartet will perform at 6, and a program will follow at 6:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
Norway Downtown Holiday Night will be from 5 to 7 p.m., when shops along Main Street will be open, offering special activities such as wreath making, cookie decorating and more.
