NORWAY — The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine has some special events on its calendar as the year winds down and holiday season begins.
The center will join with the Oncology Program at Stephens Memorial Hospital will hold its annual Celebration of Life from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, in the Harper Room at the hospital’s Ripley Building. For more information call 207-744-6117.
The center will also host two special craft activities, including a day of making Christmas Crafts from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18. Participants are welcome to spend the entire day, or just stop in to make one item. Materials will be provided and those who have something to share may call 207-890-0329.
There will also be origami box making at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11. Boxes make great gift boxes. Materials will be provided.
The center will be closed for the holidays on Dec. 27 and 28, with activities resuming in January. In case of inclement weather, when School Administrative District 17 cancels school, the CRCWM will also be closed.
Winter drop-in hours are 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and 9 1.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays. Volunteers are available to provide comfort items such as port protectors, wigs, hats, pillows or look for resources. They have many pamphlets and a lending library. The center is also a place to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea, chat with a volunteer or take time for yourself by participating in scheduled programs. Activities such as coloring, knitting and games are available at all times.
