Maine RSU 16 community classes for upcoming weeks announced

MECHANIC FALLS — Community classes for all ages offered by Regional School Unit 16 Adult Ed, which includes Mechanic Falls, Minot and Poland, have been scheduled for November and December.

Upcoming classes are:

BABYSITTER CERTIFICATION — With Mia Comis, NREMT and AHA instructor. For students age 12 and up, who will learn about developmental stages, bottle-feeding, diaper changing, safety, and age appropriate activities for babysitting. Includes Pediatric First Aid, CPR and AED use for adults, children and infants, 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 1.
BATH FIZZIES — With Julia Bundy. Learn how to scent, color and mold your own batch of bath fizzies. 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 6.
COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP SEARCHES — Jessica Whittier, of the Finance Authority of Maine, will share information about where to find scholarships, how to get organized to maximize application and tips for writing great essays. The class is free, but registration is required. 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13.
COMPUTER CLASSES — From computer basics to Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel and Google, a variety of computer classes designed to meet your personal and workforce needs are offered. Call for details.

STAYING HOME ALONE — Red Cross trainer Judy Emch teaches 8 to 11-year-olds the fundamentals of staying home alone for short periods of time. 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1.
TAI CHI and YOGA, drop-ins welcome, at the Elm Street School gym on Tuesdays through Dec. 11, from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m., $5 per class and yoga from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. on Mondays through Dec. 3, $8 per class Bring a mat, water and a blanket.
TECHHIRE MAINE — Call for more information about this opportunity for qualifying high school graduates who have an interest in computers and want to work in middle or high-skill, tech-based jobs.
WREATH MAKING — With Amy Kohtala. Create a beautiful wreath for your front door or to give as a gift. Includes greens, wreath ring and wire for one wreath. Bring light gloves, cutters/pruners and ribbons/bows. 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11.
