Oct. 312018

TURNER — A series of classes that will teach participants to play the ukulele will be held weekly at Maine School Administrative District 52 Adult Ed from Nov. 7 to Dec. 5.
The Wednesday courses will be from 7 to 8 p.m. at Leavitt Area High School, and participants will learn fundamentals and be able to start playing simple songs right away.

Simple instructional materials will be provided. Those with a ukulele and tuner may bring them. Baritones are OK, but those who have them should notify when they sign up. There are a limited number of ukuleles available for loaning.
Instructor Mike Burd is a professional musician who tours nationally playing bass with folksinger Dave Mallett and is a member of the ukulele group The Merry Plinksters in Farmington. Ukulele 101 offers students more than just instructions on how to play the instrument.
“It’s also about having fun, overcoming barriers and finding a sense of fellowship and community” Burd said. There is a fee to register for the class, for information or to register, visit WWW.MSAD52.MAINEADULTED.ORG or call 207-225-1010.
