OAKLAND — The town and the Oakland Historical Society are joining to celebrate the 135th anniversary of the town’s name change from West Waterville, in March 1883.
Featured will be a video presentation of some of the happenings during the Centennial Year in 1983.
The video will be followed by an opportunity to see some of the items from the Macartney house museum, and information from the centennial and changes that have occurred within the last 35 years. The historical society will have books, CDs and DVDs, on the history of the town and the museum for sale.
The event will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Oakland United Baptist Church, 45 Church St. Admission is free and it is open to the public.
Refreshments will be served following the video presentation.
