Mechanic Falls Brownies raise money for school lunches, more

MECHANIC FALLS — Girl Scout Brownie Troop 476 in Mechanic Falls started its first month as a new troop choosing to take on tasks of helping others in community.
Within two weeks, the troop raised $214.85 from a penny drive, which was donated to Elm Street School to assist paying off lunch account balances for fellow students.

Within the same two weeks, they also gathered 15 bags of gently used clothing from their own closets as well as their families’ closets. Those clothes went to the Pink Feather Foundation to assist in helping children and young adults in the local area schools and community who are in need of clothing.
These two activities helped the girls not only understand the importance of helping the community, but also that many hands make light work and, by working together, they could make a great impact. Troop members include, from left, front, Olivia Allen, Lucy Bissonnette, Danielle Tarantino, Jasmine Fitzgerald, Kaelynn Hayes, Kylee Hayes. In back, Meagan Hayes, co-leader, Alyvia Bryant, Phaedra Cleary, Rain Tarantino, co-leader, and Lilliana Frost.
