NEWTON, Mass. — A Mechanic Falls resident, is a member of the Lasell College softball team that was recently named a National Fastpitch Coaches Association 2017-18 Division III All-Academic Team.
Sarah Walton, a member of the class of 2021, is a member of the Lasell team, which was ranked 21st, with a team GPA of 3.540.
Lasell, which was ranked 18th last year, is one of three programs from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference to be ranked in the top 25, joining Johnson & Wales University (2) and Suffolk University (10).
In addition, 11 Lasers were named NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes, which recognizes student-athletes who achieve at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
The Laser program has received 32 All-America Scholar-Athlete awards over the past three years under head coach Rich Paulhus.
