POLAND — The public is invited to join representatives of the Poland Historical Society on a walking tour of Oak Hill Cemetery Saturday, Oct. 20, beginning at 10 a.m.
The cemetery is on the grounds of the former Summit Spring Hotel on Middle Range Pond, a turn of the century grand hotel that ceased operations shortly after World War II.
Those attending should meet at Summit Spring Golf Course, 292 Summit Spring Road.
The cemetery is surrounded by a nine-hole golf course, and golf carts will be available, if needed. Over many years, the cemetery had fallen into disrepair and was overgrown with shrubs and vegetation. Through the combined efforts of the new owner of the Summit Spring Golf Course and the Town of Poland, the picket fence and gate posts are under restoration, and the vegetation has been removed.
Following the walking tour, a reception and light refreshments will be held at the clubhouse. There is no charge for the event.
