NORWAY — Stephens Memorial Hospital will offer Kite Flying 101 — an opportunity to build, decorate and experience the excitement of flying your own kite. Believe it or not, there are tips and tricks to successful kite flying.
Participants may join SMH and Terry Robinson of ColorTheSky! kiting group for a brief talk about how the success of kite flying depends upon kite style, kiting location, winds speed and wind barriers. Participants will first decorate their own kite, then head outdoors. In the field, Robinson will demonstrate kite-flying tips and provide any needed assistance. The class is an opportunity to get outside, get fresh air and exercise, enjoy good company and have some good old-fashioned fun.
The class will be held Saturday, Oct. 20, in the Harper Conference Center of the Ripley Medical Office Building (193 Main St.) at 1 p.m. Registration deadline is Oct. 11. The cost to participate is $5 per person; registration is required. To register, visit wmh.coursestorm.com.
For more information, call 207-744-6032. The class is weather-permitting. Participants should bring water and appropriate clothing for weather and tick prevention.
