LEWISTON — Museum L-A, the Lewiston Public Library, and community partners will join together for a one-hour screening of the film “Welcome to Shelbyville,” follow by an hour-long public dialogue moderated by Reza Jalali of the University of Southern Maine.
The free program, open to the public, will take place Saturday, Sept. 29 in the library’s Callahan Hall, 200 Lisbon St.
A handout is available on both the LPL or Museum L-A websites with a short essay, links to articles, and other info if attendees would like to learn something about the topic beforehand.
“Becoming American” is a project of City Lore in collaboration with the Immigration and Ethnic History Society and the International Coalition of the Sites of Conscience. The project has been made possible by a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities: Exploring the Human Endeavor.
