AUBURN — Androscoggin Historical Society will host an educational program with mystery novelist William D. Andrews, titled “Stealing History,” 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at the society’s museum on the third floor of the Androscoggin County building at Court and Turner streets.
Andrews has published three mysteries “Stealing History,” “Breaking Ground,” and “Mapping Murder,” which all take place at a fictional western Maine historical society. He will talk about historical societies as the sites of potential crimes, that is, thefts of valuable artifacts. Also, he will discuss how writing or reading mysteries parallels history.
Andrews is the former president of Westbrook College and is the past president of the board of trustees of the Bethel Historical Society and a former director of the Mahoosuc Land Trust.
He and his wife split their time between their homes in Newry and Portland.
