SOUTH PARIS — The Norway-Paris Fish & Game Association is adding 17 acres adjacent to the organization’s location on Buckfield Road, South Paris.
The fish and game association plans to create ATV trails in tandem with safety and educational course offerings, while long term goals include bringing archery to the new acreage.
By adding the acreage, the association will continue to grow and provide more recreational opportunities for both youth and adults in the community, officials said in a news release.
The acquisition was made possible with financing from Community Concepts Finance Corporation.
Stephen Tobin, president, said, “This expansion of land is part of the associations history, the land will be enjoyed for years to come.”
The association was founded in 1970 and is dedicated to making the community a better place to live and recreate. The association has approximately 500 members, who enjoy what’s said to be one of the state’s most modern and safe fish and game shooting ranges. The grounds, which are welcoming to children and adults alike, are alcohol-free and provide 24-hour video surveillance.
In addition to its facilities, the association hosts several community events each year including a fishing derby, recreation day, safety classes and sporting competitions. The non-profit organization also provides college scholarships to local graduates as well as tuition scholarships for children to attend a week of camp at the UMaine 4-H Camp in Bryant Pond.
The news release said that CCFC is proud to have assisted this non-profit organization continue to grow and preserve land for recreational use.
