NORWAY — The fifth annual Drive Out Cancer golf tournament, organized by the Ladies Golf Association to benefit the Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine, was held Aug. 16, at Norway Country Club.
Forty players participated in the 18-hole scramble. Members of the community and area businesses donated money to sponsor the tournament or a golf hole, while others donated items and gift certificates for the silent auction and raffle table.
The proceeds, amounting to more than $8,000, will be donated to the center in September.
The Center is open Tuesdays 3 to 7 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and offers a variety of programs as well as many comfort items free to anyone impacted by cancer.
