Raft race held during Lake Anasagunticook celebration

CANTON — A raft race sponsored by the Lake Anasagunticook Association was held Aug. 18 at Canton Beach.
Six rafts entered the race, although the raft by Griffin Dunn, Ryan Ng, Evan Hornbach and Nihal Dasty could not make it to the launch site because of the strong headwinds.

Of the 19 participants on the five rafts that raced, nine were children and one was a dog. There were 40 spectators on the beach, and more watched from the LAA’s nearby “Lake Days” celebration on Lake Shore Drive. Both events were free and open to the public.
The judges for the race were Canton selectman Carole Robbins and Hartford selectman Lee Holman. Following are the results:
The Sailfish — Capt. Alfred Perez and crew Evans Perez, Arianna D’Ambrosio, Anthony D’Ambrosio, Noah Schrock, Caitlin Schrock, Santika Hodgkin and Tyoaka Hodgkin.
Party Boat — Capt. Jimmy Boston with crew Charlie Boston, Maureen Boston and Katie Barron. Prize: Best in Show
