RANGELEY — The Rangeley Public Library will hold two diverse programs the first week of September.
Pornography addiction and internet safety will be discussed Sept. 5 and 6.
Joshua Shea was a successful Maine businessman with a loving, supportive family, but his life came to a screeching halt when he was arrested for engaging a teenager in an online chat room. His long-existing pornography and alcohol issues had taken over his life.
Shea has now been sober and in recovery for almost four years and is sharing his experience with addiction in the hope that he can help other people avoid heading down the same path.
The program will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5.
Although the content of the presentation will not be graphic in nature, the library requests that only those over the age of 18 attend this free event.
Rangeley resident Scott Hatfield will be at the library to share tips on how to stay safe on the Internet 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Sept. 6.
Hatfield will cover such topics as wireless security, data protection and privacy. Veteran computer users and those brand new to surfing the web will find useful tips in this free class to help users stay safe online. The class will be limited to 20 participants.
