READFIELD — August events at Readfield Community Library include story time, a partnership with the Readfield beach to continue story time for the month of August.
Story time at the beach begins at 11 a.m. on Thursdays, and is led by Pat Clark, early childhood studies director at University of Maine at Augusta. The program is geared to preschool and kindergarten-age children. Overall topic is the beach focusing on different areas each week.
Upcoming topics are Whales and Sharks, Aug. 9; boats, Boats, Aug. 16; Beach Creatures, Aug. 23.
Other events are the annual book sale, wich is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 11, at the fire station, across from the library. There will also be fundraiser dunk tank on the library lawn from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. that day. On the night of Aug. 11, Friends of the Library will present an improv comedy show at Gilles Hall. Tickets can be bought in advance at the library. All proceeds benefit library programs.
The Chewonki program “Fur, Feet, and Feathers” will be presented from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, outdoors at the library.
On the first and third Wednesday of the months, the library hosts Drop-in Cribbage; it’s 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. the first Wednesday and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. the third Wednesday.
