LEWISTON — Lewiston native Logistics Chief Petty Officer Jessica Doucette, who graduated in 1994 from Edward Little High School in Auburn, will retire Aug. 31 after serving 24 years with the United States Navy.
She is the daughter of Michael and Constance Doucette, and the granddaughter of Lily Gagnon.
Doucette is serving as the senior enlisted leader at the Aviation Support Detachment, Mayport Naval Station, Mayport, Fla.
Doucette enlisted under the delayed entry program in 1994 as an undesignated airman. Upon completion of boot camp and Airman Apprentice School, she reported to her first duty station at Cecil Field, Fla., where she earned her plane captain qualifications, becoming one the first females in the Navy to board aircraft carriers performing her duties in support of carrier qualifications. She also became a designated aviation storekeeper and shortly thereafter reported to Brunswick Naval Air Station. She was later stationed in Milton, Fla., supporting unmanned aviation.
She checked onboard the USS Carl Vinson in March, 2005 where she made the ship’s final world cruise and saw it through its yard period during a refuel and overhaul complex. Here, she accelerated her sailor’s life and was promoted to first class petty officer.
Following her time onboard CVN-70, Doucette was selected to represent the Blue Angels team through one of the Navy’s top recruitment tools. After a year on the team, she earned her selection to chief petty officer and finished off this portion of her tour as a chief and Blue Angel alumnus.
Doucette took on a recruiting tour in October 2011 in Nashville, Tenn. At her 20-year mark, she — along with her young son, Cody Paul Isaacs — served an overseas tour to Manama, Bahrain. At the Fleet Logistics Center, she represented the command as the assistant business officer supporting overseas logistics operations and surface Navy. After this tour, Doucette and her son were stationed at the Aviation Support Division in Mayport, where she finished her career as the senior enlisted leader, advocate and mentor for her crew.
