MONMOUTH — The Momnouth Fair will be held Aug. 1 to 4 this year, with events for the whole family.
On Thursday, Aug. 1, there will be a pedal tractor pull, frying pan toss and hay bale toss.
Beano is every evening and all day Saturday and there are pig scrambles are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoons. There will be a bike raffle every day.
The Maine tradition of using animal power to get the job done will be on display with horse, oxen and steer pulling and demonstrations every day.
Challenge family and friends to meet you and beat you in the Back Seat Driver and Farmer Olympics Friday and Saturday – contests for ages 5 to 95. The Red Neck Truck Pull is Saturday night.
Residents from any town may exhibit their crafts, artwork, photography, hobbies, needlework, farm produce, flowers, baking or canning for ribbons and cash prizes. Frame that picture, water those tomatoes, finish that quilt, display your collection or put the final touches on the new stool you made in the shop.
This year’s special contest is looking for the best wild blueberry cake. The Scarecrow Contest may include old-fashioned, high fashion, punk, or pop fashion – anything to scare the crows. Contests are for children and adults and are greate family projexts. Exhibition Hall entries are accepted on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.
Participants may also make ice cream at the museum, pet the animals, weave on the community loom, shop in the marketplace and ride the carnival rides.
There will be live entertainment every night and all of the standard fair food, exhibits and agricultural contests and displays.
