Central Maine DNA Interest Group will hold summer meetings in Sidney

SIDNEY — The Sidney Historical Society will host the Central Maine DIG meetings Saturday, July 21, and Saturday, Aug. 18, in the basement of the Sidney Grange, 2986 Middle Road.
A DIG, or DNA Interest Group, meets to discuss DNA testing, how to use it to uncover their ancestry, and expand their family trees.

If anyone has taken a DNA test and wants more clarification about the results, DIG meetings may be able to help.
* If the results left you confused, a DIG can provide resources and assistance
* If you want to learn more about cousin matches and what they mean, a DIG is a good place to start exploring
* If you are a genealogist who has hit a brick wall, a DIG may be just what you need to focus your project.
The DIG leaders for Central Maine are Peter Smith and Nancy Lecompte, both experienced genealogists working with DNA in their own family projects.
Central Maine DIG meetings are free and open to the public, taking place the third Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to noon. The DIG meets 10 months out of each year, the majority of the time at the Winslow Public Library.
Those with accessibility issues should note that the Sidney Grange basement is one-half flight of stairs down from street level, with sturdy handrails on both sides. Anyone who needs assistance should ask before attempting to navigate the stairs.
