Farmington Independence Day events, fireworks are July 3

Jun. 282018

FARMINGTON — Farmington’s Fourth of July fireworks will be July 3, with a number of events beforehand.
The fireworks show will commence at dusk, approximately 9 p.m., over Prescott Field off Front Street.
Before the evening display, there will be horse-drawn wagon rides with Kendric Charles and music on the field, featuring the Court Jesters.
“This is a citizen-initiated event that is made possible by a dedicated all-volunteer staff,” said John Moore, owner of the Narrow Gauge Cinemas and Big Sky Grill, one of the event sponsors, along with Franklin Savings Bank and Kyes Insurance. Mainestone Jewelers are sponsoring the wagon rides and the fireworks are courtesy of Coca Cola of Farmington.
“Fireworks set a magnificent tone for the Fourth of July festivities to follow,” said Tim Thompson, president and CEO at Franklin Savings Bank. “We are pleased we can help make this tradition happen.”
Spectators are urged to be respectful of property while viewing. While there is plenty of field space adjacent to the fields for a lawn chair or blanket, viewers are asked to not stand or sit on the University of Maine at Farmington playing fields.
