WATERVILLE — The Delta Ambulance medical team was named winner of the Dana Dutton Volunteer Excellence Award at this year’s Trek Across Maine.
The American Lung Association and Trek organizers chose Delta, which has volunteered crews for 20 years at the Trek.
“Your entire crew has been such a huge part of our event for the past 20 years and we thought it would be a great time to honor you all (especially as you celebrate your anniversary year)” said Kim Chamard, the Trek’s development manager.
Delta officials thanked the ALA and Trek staff for the honor. “It has been a pleasure working with you all these years and helping assure that the Trekkers had the assistance they needed,” a spokesman for Delta said. “Some years were easier than others but the goal was always the same — better lung health.”
The Delta Team is made up of volunteers and, and the service said it appreciates them and its key supporters, Darling’s Auto Mall, Yankee Communications and Verizon Wireless.
Delta Ambulance is located in Waterville and Augusta and provides ambulance service for central Maine.
