AUGUSTA — The Lithgow Public Library will host a Composting at Home workshop at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 14.
Caragh Fitzgerald of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension will discuss how to compost at home, even in small spaces. The session is for beginners as well as experienced composters.
The workshop may be helpful to those who love to garden, but are stymied by Maine’s clay, sandy or rocky soil, as well as those who want to reduce household waste.
Composting is a powerful and natural soil amendment that will make gardens thrive while reducing greenhouse gasses caused by organic matter breaking down in landfills.
