PHILLIPS — Welcome to Summer in Phillips, local trail work and the farmers market are all coming with the nicer weather in the Phillips area.
June 2 to 3, will include a Lilac Festival at Sandy River Gardens, a 5K race, a talk by author Doug Rawlings at the Phillips Library, a flea market at the Community House, the Farmers Market, shopping for “specials” at stores, and a chance to win prizes donated by eight area businesses.
Other goings-on in the area include High Peaks Alliance rebuilding a section of the Fly Rod Crosby Trail along Orbeton Stream.
The work involves clearing brush, reestablishing water bars, building bog bridges, and marking the trail with paint and signs. No special skills or experience required. Participants only need to bring a smile, water, a bag lunch, bug spray, sunscreen, work gloves, safety glasses and boots. Planned work days are Wednesday June 13, Saturday June 16 (rain date Sunday June 17), Wednesday June 27, and Saturday June 30 (rain date Sunday July 1).

The Phillips Farmers Market is open for the season.
The market, held in the American Legion building on Depot Street, will run every Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., until the last weekend in September.
