BRIDGTON — The Bridgton Library has announced the dates for its summer fundraisers, the book sale and “Curl up with a Good Book and Quilt” raffle, as well as the weekly Book Shed.
The book sale is a summer tradition for the Friends of the Library. This year’s will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 7, in the library courtyard.
The rain date is Saturday, July 14. A wide variety of books for adults and children will be for sale — adult paperbacks sell for $1 and hard cover books for $2, childrens hardcovers for $1 and softcovers for 50 cents. Donations of gently used books are accepted – please drop them off at the library, 1 Church St., any day before June 30 during regular business hours.
Also this summer, the Friends will be selling chances to win a quilt that was made and donated by Friends member, Diana Fallon. It depicts a book shelf full of books with a couple of cats thrown in. A winter project to keep herself busy, Fallon chose the quilt kit with the library in mind.
The quilt is machine pieced, hand quilted, and measures 79 inches by 64 inches. It will be on display at the Library beginning June 1. Raffle tickets for a chance at winning the quilt will be sold for $1 each or 6 for $5 and can be bought at the library beginning June 1 and at the used book sales throughout the summer.
The raffle drawing will be on Saturday, Sept. 1. The winner need not be present to win.
Also back by popular demand, the Friends will open the Book Shed for used book sales on Saturdays throughout the summer, from 10 a.m. to noon, beginning July 21.
“If you miss the annual book sale, or are just looking for another read, we hope you will drop in and check out the Book Shed, located in the Library parking lot,” said Cathy Finck, president of the Friends of the Bridgthon Public Library. “We look forward to seeing all our return book sale patrons and hope to see new faces this summer too.”
The Friends of the Bridgton Public Library also invite new members. The Friends meet at 9:30 a.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at the library.
