Rabbi Sruli and Lisa to play at Turner Gazebo June 5

TURNER — Rabbi Sruli and Lisa will be the performers at the Tuesday, June 5, Music for Mavis concert at the Gazebo. The duo plays old-world Klezmer music and are international Jewis performers and personaliities who have been featured on PBS-TV and National Public Radio.

They have headlined at Jewish festivals from Poland to Jerusalem, Toronto to Texas and have performed at theaters, synagogues, universities and schools, as well as at hundreds of simchas. They even recently performed for the New York Mets. They combine story-telling, tradition, musical virtiuosity and passionate spirt, and are part of the Temple Shalom Synagog leadership and community in Auburn. June 5 is also the birthday of the late Mavis Varney, whose vision helped make the Gazebo a reality. While the concert is free, the hat is passed for donations to pay the musicians. Suggested donation is $5. Bring a chair or blanket to sit on the lawn at the Gazebo, 98 Mathews Way, Route 117, Turner Center. If it rains, the concert will be downstairs under the library next door.
