LITCHFIELD — Fifth grade students of Carrie Ricker School volunteered their Sunday morning recently to help the Sabattus American Legion Post 135 prepare veterans graves for Memorial Day.
The students helped plant flowers at two locations and replace flags for veterans at five cemeteries.
Led by fifth-grade teacher and American Legion Auxiliary officer Jennifer Caron and American Legion member Ron Caron, both of Post 135, students learned town and Legion history, got a tour of the Sabattus post, and were able to feel the joy of helping and contributing to their community.
