READFIELD — Three Messalonskee High School students recently signed national letters of intent to play college sports.
Lauren Pickett, Austin Pelletier and Ally Turner have all committed to colleges for next year.
Pickett signed a letter of intent to play Division 2 lacrosse at Assumption College in Worcester, Mass.
Pickett has 119 goals and 52 assists going into her Senior year. She achieved high honors with distinction in all four years of high school, and was inducted into the National Honor Society. Upon graduation, she will have earned 12 athletic letters. As a sophomore, Pickett was selected as one of 18 players to represent Maine on the U.S. 16U National Lacrosse Tournament. She is a captain for Winslow’s soccer and lacrosse teams and hopes to lead the Eagles to a Class B State Championship this year. At Assumption, Pickett will pursue a pre-med education with the goal of attending dental school to be an orthodontist.
Pelletier will attend Franklin Pierce University, in Rindge, N.H., to play lacrosse and study occupational therapy. Pelletier has scored 105 goals and 79 assists so far in his high school career. In his junior year, he was named lacrosse player of the year. He has been nominated and earned a spot on the Underclassman All Star team the past three years. Pelletier is a three-sport athlete who excels in football, wrestling and lacrosse and will finish his high school career with 12 varsity letters. His latest accomplishment is having been chosen to play in the Shriner’s Lobster Bowl in July.
Turner will play lacrosse at Division 1 Wagner College, in Staten Island, N.Y., where she will study nursing, with the goal of becoming a nurse anesthetist.
She is the school’s all-time leader in scoring for goals and points in her lacrosse career at Messalonskee, and she already has 179 goals and 79 assists heading into her senior year. She was a leading member of the first Lacrosse State Championship in school history.
