Final discussion in Maine State Forum Series is April 25

AUGUSTA — The Maine State Forum series will host a panel discussion on sexual assault and intellectually challenged persons 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, at the University of Maine at Augusta’s Jewett Hall auditorium, 46 University Drive. The series is free and open to the public.

This month’s forum is organized by the Maine Developmental Disabilities Council and will be moderated by Dr. Brenda McAleer, dean of the College of Professional Studies at the University of Maine at Augusta. The speakers Nancy Cronin, executive director of Maine Developmental Disabilities Council and representative from “Speaking Up,” a self-advocacy organization for people with developmental disabilities; Katy Par; and Donna Strickler, executive director of the Sexual Assault Crisis & Support Center.
The Maine State Forum invites prominent Maine policymakers to speak on topics of interest to the Maine community. The questions and answer format after the presentation allows attendees to learn and interact with policymakers in the news. The Maine State Forum is funded by a UMA Research and Innovation grant, and is coordinated by Assistant Professor Sharon McMahon Sawyer of the Justice Studies department.
This is the last of six forums of the 2017-2018 academic year. The Maine State Forum will resume in September.
