NORWAY– Louise Fillebrown, director of clinical education at Western Maine Health, has been chosen as one of two recipients of the 2018 Maine Coalition Against Sexual Assault’s SAFE award, Margaret Burns, senior vice president of clinical services, announced.
The SAFE award goes to a sexual assault forensic examiner or sexual assault nurse examiner who has demonstrated exceptional care for their victim/survivor patients. The SAFE or SANE chosen for the award also demonstrates a steadfast commitment to their local multidisciplinary efforts to better serve survivors.
Fillerbrown’s nomination is a result of her strong, consistent, dependable and helpful voice for sexual assault survivors during meetings and case reviews, as well as her commitment to the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Services’ mission and work, according to the news release announcing the award.
Her ability to meet patients where they are and explain the medical procedures in clear and helpful ways when they are in some of the most traumatic moments of their lives is substantial.
Fillebrown was presented an award at MECASA’s annual celebration and awards ceremony April 3 at the Bangor Savings Bank in Augusta.
