Lewiston’s Jordan performs in Assumption College production

WORCESTER, Mass. — Assumption College’s Department of Art, Music and Theatre presented a concert-staged performance of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” from April 20-22 featuring the college’s chorale and student actors performing lead roles.

The musical, which is celebrating its 50th year in 2018, is the “reimagining of the Biblical story of Joseph, his father Jacob, eleven brothers and the coat of many colors.”
The story is told entirely through song, and was the first musical collaboration between Andrew Lloyd Webber (music) and Tim Rice (lyrics). This family-friendly musical follows Joseph’s journey as a slave, a prisoner, and ultimately the “right-hand man” of the Pharaoh.
Originally developed as a “pop cantata” for a high school choir performance, Lloyd Webber and Rice expanded their piece into the now beloved musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Since debuting in March of 1968, it has been performed around the world, has earned several Tony Award nominations, and adapted into a film featuring Donny Osmond as Joseph.
